A 'Shout Out' for Nova Scotia
I have had the privilege of calling Halifax my home since the age of three and of obtaining my undergraduate and Medical degrees from Dalhousie. I continued my studies at McGill where I was consistently reminded by residents/fellows/faculty how impressed they were not only with the clinical skills of Dalhousie Medical School graduates, but also with their friendly, grounded and professional demeanor. The skills (medical and life) acquired back home laid a solid foundation which enabled me to eventually teach Medicine and to participate in several overseas/domestic projects.
During my travels/work, I have consistently received glowing comments about the natural beauty of Nova Scotia, the friendly and welcoming nature of Nova Scotians, and the standard of primary/secondary/post secondary education. When a patient discovers I am from Halifax, the immediate response is a smile and then "I hear it's beautiful down there' or "Nova Scotians are friendly"
For all of you resident Nova Scotians, follow your passion and make your mark on the world stage without necessarily leaving the province... many already have.
Those of us in T.O. will just have to settle for sporting our tartan(s), chugging our Keith's and wolfing down fish and chips and/or imitation donairs while enjoying the 'beaches' of Lake Ontario. :-(
For those who have not yet had the opportunity to visit, I invite them to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the province....you will not be disappointed.
