There is something soothing about the sound of the ocean. That’s what I was thinking as I shared a walk with my furry companion, on a sandy beach, just 40 minutes outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was a foggy day. The air was filled with a heavy drizzle. My husband called on my cellphone to ask: “It’s kind of a bad day to be at the beach, isn’t it?” My answer: "No." It is a perfect day to be at the beach.
With every crashing wave, the stress of the day was washed away. With every breath of fresh ocean air, a challenge I’d been thinking of all day, left my mind. I’m sure I had a silly smile on my face as I watched our family pet, bound across the sand and beach stones. It is this kind of feeling I wish I could properly convey to others. That feeling you get when you look out across the ocean and breath in that sea air. Peace. Balance. Life.
Nova Scotia Come to life works to convey that feeling that you can only find in Nova Scotia. And that feeling is augmented by other major advantages. Our universities, our genuine people, our innovative and resourceful companies, our creative atmosphere. All of this, can be found in Nova Scotia.
I recently read a letter to the editor in a local publication talking about Nova Scotia Come to life. The writer focused on the tag line: Come to life, suggesting it sounds like we’re all dead. While some people seem intent on focusing on it, there is so much more to the Nova Scotia Come to life initiative than the tag line. Come to life is a rallying call for Nova Scotia. Come to life is an invitation to bring your ideas to life, to grow, to find a place where you can really live your life the way you want to live it. Come to life invites people to make a new start here. It is a place for rejuvenation and rebirth. Come to life is also a call to action for Nova Scotia, a new beginning for the province – building on our strengths and telling the world about what a great place we have and our desire to share it.
Nova Scotia Come to life is bringing together all of Nova Scotia to share our story. Come to life is changing some of the negative or out-of-date perceptions of Nova Scotia. Come to life means being proud of who we are, what we have to offer and telling everybody about those advantages. So when you hear about Come to life in the future, why not ask yourself - what am I doing to help. We would love to have you working with us, as part of the Come to life team. Together, we can put Nova Scotia on the map.
Until next time,
