Two years ago, two young men started a digital marketing company. Their office had two desks in about 500 square feet of space. The company has been growing gradually, but is now expanding to create up to 100 jobs over the next five years.
Modern Media, a charter member of Nova Scotia Come to life, is a true Nova Scotia success story. Modern Media works with companies to help them find the best ways to communicate and market effectively. The province of Nova Scotia, through Nova Scotia Business Inc., is investing in the growth of this creative company with a payroll rebate of up to $927,600.
“New export markets are opening for Modern Media and we’re excited to expand out footprint in Nova Scotia,” said Modern Media President Jamie Davison.
Michael Perry has been with Modern Media from the beginning.
“We are in Nova Scotia primarily because it is where we have chosen to live and raise our families,” said Perry, Modern Media’s VP of Operations. “We have also been fortunate that we have been able to recruit a team of highly motivated, highly educated professionals from the area to work with us in building the company.”
“We feel that we are geographically situated to effectively serve key marketing industry areas including Toronto, New York, and Chicago”, said Perry.
Many business owners in Nova Scotia are excited about the future. That excitement was apparent to Donald MacInnis when he came home for Christmas in December. It made him want to stay in Nova Scotia.
The Sydney native told his story to the Nova Scotia Business Journal recently. MacInnis was working in Calgary, but while visiting his family over the holidays, discovered a “new air of optimism” in Cape Breton.
