Cooper Tardivel

Born and raised in Halifax, Cooper Tardivel has been bartending for 14 years, having "worked the stick" in pubs, fine dining restaurants, cocktail lounges, and nightclubs around the world.

Bartending has taken him from the top spots in Halifax, to Vancouver, to beach bars in Mexico, to nightclubs in Australia, and back to beach bars in Fiji. Bartending and mixology have also given him the opportunity to represent Atlantic Canada in two National Stella Artois Draught Master Championships; and to the 2007 Bols Around The World Cocktail Master Global Championships in Amsterdam, NL.

According to Cooper, bartending and mixology are both his vices and his passions. They are crafts that he continuously strives to understand and improve his mastery of. The motivation and passion that keep him on course in his immersion in the study of the craft of cocktails can be summed up with this quote from cocktail guru and historian, David Wondrich: “A proper drink at the right time – one mixed with care and skill and served in a true spirit of hospitality – is better than any other made thing at giving us the illusion, at least, that we’re getting what we want from life.”

In addition to fostering a passion for his profession through competition and conversations with patrons, Cooper has been featured in the Globe and Mail, The Chronicle Herald, The Coast, En Route Magazine, Bar and Beverage Magazine, Lifestyle Magazine, Review Magazine, Occasions Magazine, East Coast Living Magazine, appearances on Breakfast Television, a cocktail series on CBC’s, “Living Halifax”, a series of web videos profiling cocktails for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC), and a cocktail series profiling classic cocktails for CBC Radio’s, “Information Morning”.

Cooper's enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrate that no matter what your passion, you can reach the top of your game in Nova Scotia and garner the credit you deserve doing so. Cheers Cooper!
