The 25th Halifax International Busker Festival
When planning what to see and do in Nova Scotia in August you should drop by the Halifax waterfront and take in the sights and sounds of the Halifax International Buskers’ Festival. From acrobats to musical acts, there is always something afoot to delight you, whether you’re three or ninety-three.
This year, Canada’s largest and longest-running busker festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary. From August 4th to the 14th, performers from across Canada and around the world will be strutting their stuff on one of the five main stages along the waterfront. Meanwhile all over the city unofficial buskers –most of whom show great talent—will be hanging out on street corners and promenades just waiting to entertain you.
As one of the many annual festivals in Nova Scotia, the Halifax International Busker Festival attracts more than 500,000 people to the Halifax waterfront, contributing to the already bustling summer atmosphere.
“In the summer, Halifax comes alive with festivals and the Buskers is one of the biggest. The energy and excitement of Buskers brings thousands of people to the waterfront and downtown making it a great boost to the businesses here,” says Gordon Stevens Owner of the Uncommon Group.
What makes Halifax such a unique place that not only tourists but the buskers themselves from places as far away as Australia come back year after year to share in the frivolity and incredible creative output of this festival? Halifax exudes an atmosphere of welcome to one and all as a place to celebrate community and camaraderie; and of the best of people’s capacity to be creative and innovative and by taking entertainment to the streets, the Halifax International Buskers’ Festival amplifies Nova Scotia’s message of Come one, come all!
