In the fall of 2008, Lynn Bruyere had a complicated balancing act to handle. The global economy was in a downturn, and Nova Scotia was experiencing its share of change. Layoffs were coming in some areas, but in other areas there were too many positions unfilled. The Halifax branch manager for global staffing provider Kelly Services had to figure out how to make the transition.
The desire to create that opportunity is what makes Nova Scotian workers unique. "We interview thousands of people and what is common to most of us is that we want to make a difference," she says.
"We help people get jobs, we place people in a job that they're good for, that matches their personality, matches their style, and matches their education."
"Most people need to work, but I find Nova Scotians want to contribute. They want their community to be healthy and safe, and they want their workplace to be somewhere they can be proud of. They make us very proud to represent them."
