New Glasgow's CKEC 94.1 East Coast FM has been owned and operated by the Freeman family since 1964. The station was originally broadcast on 1230 AM, and then on 1320 AM, but in December 2007 the current 94.1 FM frequency was launched under the guidance of owner Douglas Freeman and his son Michael Freeman, the station's Vice-President and General Manager.
The station serves Northern Nova Scotia and P.E.I. and plays "Your greatest hits with an East Coast twist" featuring music from the '80s, '90s and today with strong support for Nova Scotia and East Coast artists. CKEC 94.1 keeps its listeners informed with up-to-date news, weather, sports and local community events. The station is also available online, so CKEC offers listeners ,near and far, access to the sound of Nova Scotia!
