Young Filmmakers Share Community Pride

If you were to capture your hometown through the lens of a camera, what would you want to capture on film? As part of the "My Story, My Home" ViewFinders: International Film Festival for Youth Master Class I had the chance to work with three groups of amazing Nova Scotia youth as they decided exactly what special stories they wanted to tell about their homes.

Youth from Cheticamp, Halifax and Spryfield were mentored by professional filmmakers through all the stages of production – from script development, to directing, camera work, sound design and editing.

After two busy days shooting their films, each group ended up with the beginnings of the stories of their Nova Scotia hometowns. They worked so hard to edit their footage into three unique films.  While all the stories are very different, one thing remains the same – every hometown in Nova Scotia has a story worth telling. What’s your story? How do you want to make it Come to life?
