Nova Scotia Beauty and Opportunity
It is a gorgeous day in Nova Scotia. The leaves are vibrantly green; tulips are blooming; birds are chirping and peepers are peeping. We often think of beauty when we think of Nova Scotia. And why wouldn't we? We are surrounded by beauty. From Cheticamp to Yarmouth and everywhere in between you'll find scenes that will take your breath away.
Perhaps not as obvious or as understood outside our provincial borders are the successes or opportunities that are all around us. That's something Nova Scotia Come to life is trying to change.
For example, did you know that within the next five years, 45-thousand jobs will open up in Nova Scotia just to replace retiring workers? Or that our growth sectors include financial services; aerospace and defence; ICT and healthcare.
I also continue to be inspired by the small and big businesses that call Nova Scotia home. Amherst’s LED Roadway - designing and manufacturing technology that uses about half the energy of traditional lights. HB Studios out of Lunenburg and Halifax. They are developing video games for EA sports and Playstation. A walk along the waterfront in Halifax you'll find a number of great restaurants and a beautiful boutique owned by designer Lisa Drader-Murphy. Lisa moved to Nova Scotia from Calgary and has seen growth in her business and certainly a more balanced lifestyle. Nova Scotia Come to life has more than 370 charter members and they each have a story of success to share. So while we think of beauty when we think of Nova Scotia or our wonderful people - we should also think about growth and opportunity and encourage others to share our story.
