That can-do spirit pervades all of the many infrastructure projects in Port Hawkesbury, a town of 3,500 people on the Strait of Canso. The town truly does have an impressive array of services and amenities, says John Ouellette, the president of the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce. Ouellette says knows newcomers to the town who have been floored by “the fact that there is a pool, a library, a YMCA, a new arena. There are lots of arts and cultural activities in the area,” he says. “It’s always great to hear that somebody arrives here and is pleasantly surprised at what’s available to them.”

About Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada. With 7,400 km of coastline it is almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Nova Scotia is a place that offers a rare experience to the people who live in, do business in, and come to visit the province.

Halifax, with its vibrant arts and culture scene, is often referred to as a creative centre. But did you know this is also true of the city's health research cluster? In fact, there are surprising examples of overlap between these two sectors. "Art and science are not in opposition," says pioneering brain surgeon Dr. Ivar Mendez in a recent article in Nova Scotia Open to the World Magazine.
